A Concern yet to be addressed by the Govt and the people?
The whole world is experiencing and passing through a period that no one can ever describe – how it all began? how did it spread across the world? Will we able to contain its growth? How long will this continue? What will be our future? Anyone to be blamed? Unbearable loss it has caused.
The worried and tensed world Community, in the absence of any effective drugs to control / treating the infected people, have been taking more precautions as the good old saying’ “Prevention is better that cure “.
The Concern:
We all know, the emerging technology has made our living more comfortable. And it has become quite common the see our aged parents mostly live separately, living their own life whether they like it or not. And the most of them having old age ailments, unable to manage their living, somehow, manage their living, with the help of a maid servant who provide them ‘Part time’ or’ Full Time’ service.

Everything was going normal, But the presence of the ‘uninvited guests’, CORONA Virus and COVID -19 Virus have made their life very miserable. During the First Lock-Down, everything and come to a halt, and the life of the old aged people also came to halt, the part-time working maid- servants, stopped coming, the aged couple didn’t know wat to do. I wonder many of them would have starved because there was one to cook for them, and you can very well imagine the condition of those weak and bed ridden. Oh. I just cannot imagine their plight. But the aged couples who had full time maid servants would have managed somehow.
With Lockdown or a similar situation still continuing, and with CORONA Virus and COVID-19 Virus still very active claiming human lives, even the maid-servants are also very much scared becoming a of victim CORONO Virus.
In fact, like many other employees who became jobless and were struggling to live their lives, the Government and the authorities took necessary action to help them by many ways. All TV channels found only discussing bout COVID – 19 Virus and connected matters.
But I have never come across any action/ discussion in regard to the workers, maid servants, working at the houses of old aged people, single / couples living alone in our society.
As one of the preventive measures ordered by the Governments is, people aged over 65 should not come out of their house, as the aged can easily become victims of COVID -19 virus. All old aged people may not be educated / financially sound.
I, myself is 74 years plus and we both, my wife and me live in our own house at Thrissur. Our children are working away and settled there. A maid servant comes to us in the morning, helps us in cleaning, housekeeping, cooking and in other activities and returns to her home in the afternoon. During the Lock -Down period, she had stopped coming as there was no bus service and due to other restrictions.
I have many ailments including Parkinson’s since 2008, I also have very fluctuating Blood Pressure. And I am living through a very difficult situation.
So how do we, the old aged people manage our life without a maid servant? And what are the instructions/ restrictions to follow by the old aged people as well as the maid servants.
Therefore, I request the concerned authorities to address this ‘Life in Death’ issue as early as possible. I have already contacted some TV Channels and shall also be forwarding a copy of this to other news agencies for their media support in making this fact aware among the public.
